June, the month of choice when it comes to birthstones!
Why pick one when you can have three? If you have a birthday in June then you certainly are spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a birthstone to wear and enjoy!

As part of our continued efforts to reduce our carbon footprint here at Sparkle Towers HQ, we are always looking for ways to improve our processes and packaging, working towards an even more sustainable approach to our little company!
If you’ve got a birthday in June then you certainly are one of the lucky ones! Not only are we subject to warmer weather, lighter, balmier nights and longer days with the trees and flowers in bloom here in the UK, but you will find (wherever you are in the world!) that those with a June birthday are actually quite spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a jewellery birthstone!
With some months tied to just one set popular birthstone such as May with its rich emerald or July with its Ruby, those born in June can pick from a trio of gemstones to assign themselves to! Take your pick on the romantic and sensual pearl, delightful and pretty Alexandrite, or a magical moonstone as your chosen birthstone. All are equally as gorgeous as the other and you really are spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing! Picking which to assign to your birthday can be really difficult (unless you want to pick all three which is perfectly fine by us!) and you can either pick the one you are drawn to most colour wise, or why not have a little read about each gemstone and their healing benefits to help you make your choice, too?
To help you pick your perfect birthstone from this trio of beauties, we’ve listed a couple of the properties of each gemstone which just might help sway your decision!
First up
Alexandrite! If you’re looking for a little good luck charm then this might be the right birthstone for you. Only discovered in the 19th century, this gemstone is believed to bring luck, good fortune and love to those who wear it, Alexandrite come in many colours including blues, pinks and greens. It is also believed to help enhance self-esteem and help get those creative juices going, so is a great little healer and amplifier! A great choice for those with creative minds. As well as being the gemstone for those with a June birthday, this gorgeous little stone is also the celebratory gemstone for 55 years or marriage!
Next, let’s talk about moonstones! Here at House of Alyssa Smith this is one of our favourite gemstones of all time, and we use it a lot in our wonderful jewellery designs because of both the way it looks and for its healing properties and benefits. You don’t only have to be born in June to be able to wear and enjoy these gemstones, anyone can wear any gemstone they are drawn to and reap its benefits. It is such a blessing that we have so many beautiful gemstones which have been whipped up by nature that we are just able to wear and enjoy so easily when we turn them into talismans and gorgeous pieces of jewellery!
Moonstones have been a popular choice of talisman and jewellery for such a long time, partly because they are physically so gorgeous and endearing but also because this gemstone is believed to be quite a powerful one! Moonstones were often given to sailors when they left to embark on a long journey to help them be guided by the moon, but also to ensure a safe journey home again too. That’s why we always like to travel with moonstone jewellery, especially when we’re going on a work trip or holiday involving travelling.
It has also long been believed that Moonstones always glow brighter when there is a full moon because of their connection to it… how amazing!
Benefits wise, as well as being known as the ‘travellers’ stone- helping to keep you safe whilst you are out and about, the moonstone is also known as a stone of new beginnings, believed to aid you on new ventures, projects or chapters in your life.

Last (but certainly not least) we have the Pearl. This is the most traditional and long-standing birthstone associated with those who have a June birthday. Pearls have long been linked to wisdom and intelligence, hence the saying ‘pearls of wisdom’! They are believed to help bring emotional balance to a strained and stressed mind, which makes them really useful for those with stressful jobs and who work very long hours. They are also believed to help with self-confidence and mood swings as they are believed to help regulate hormones within our bodies. We absolutely love pearls because they can be worn and enjoyed by anyone of all ages, and are particularly perfect and beneficial when you are near water for pearls (unlike other gemstones which come from the earth) are from water! This is why a Pearl (including Mother of Pearl) always makes a great choice for taking away with your holiday wardrobe!
Now you have chosen a birthstone, or at least have a favourite for the time being, wouldn’t it be great to see what you could pair it with for the perfect look?
Alexandrite- Looks gorgeous paired with sterling silver and works well with watermelon tourmaline too if you have gone for a pinky Alexandrite. If you have opted for a green or bluey Alexandrite, then you may want to mix it with a Topaz or Aquamarine!
Moonstone- Moonstones just love silver- for in Ancient times, the moon was represented as silver and the sun was represented in gold! Knowing this, it is easy to see why a moonstone is the perfect pairing with silver! But Moonstone always looks fantastic with a blue Topaz or a pinky Rose Quartz, too!
Pearls- Fresh water pearls look stunning paired with silver to bring out their colour, but also look fantastic and rather at home with Mother of Pearl! If you are looking for a little juxtaposition with your Pearls, then why not pair them with a Black Onyx or a Black Spinel which can take your outfit from day to night very easily!
As we say, you really don’t have to be born in June to enjoy these gemstones and be able to add them to your jewellery wardrobe, but whatever month you are born in we hope that this little insight into these gorgeous three stones has helped you pick your favourite, or at least the one you would like to have some benefit from over the coming months.
