How Can I Find My Perfect Ring Size?

One of the things we get asked the most here at House of Alyssa is how to find your perfect ring size: we know it can feel very tricky and even daunting trying to find your ring size, especially if it's for your big day or an important event! With so many different ring sizing techniques out there (all with varying levels of success!), we thought we would make it easy by sharing our tried and tested method to find your perfect ring size!

Finding your correct ring size without a ring sizer doesn’t have to be tricky or stressful! Although many people may opt for simply buying a ring sizer or popping in to see a jeweller for a more accurate measurement, there are ways of measuring your ring size at home and using some of the things that you likely already have around the house- handy or what?! One of those ways is most commonly known as the string technique (and you can do this to measure your wrist size for bracelets too)!

The String (Or Paper) Technique

For this measuring technique, all you will need is a thick piece of string (or piece of paper), a marker or pencil, a ruler and a pair of scissors!

You only need these simple tools to measure your perfect ring size!

1. Cut a long piece of string or a piece of paper in a rectangular shape and about 3 inches long. If you are using paper/card, cut it to the width roughly of a wedding band (general ¼ inch).

2. Wrap the piece of string or paper around the finger that you are measuring for, ensuring it is as tight on your finger as you would wear a ring, and at the point on your finger which you are planning to wear it!

3. Use the marker or pencil to draw a mark where the string or paper touches on the other side.

4. Use the ruler to measure the length of the marked string or paper, from the very end to the marked point.

5. Aaaand ta-da! Simply use the chart below to determine your ring size, and look forward to wearing your gorgeous, glittering ring!
