Have a little Easter fun and make your very own hot cross bunnies!

If you have any spare hot cross buns and mini eggs lying around this Easter Sunday, then why not have a little fun and turn them into your very own hot cross bunnies!?

We wanted to dream up a little Easter recipe for all of you this year, just like we did at Christmas with our strawberry Santa’s and festive sangria but realised that money’s a little tight for some (including us!) lately and didn’t want to give you all something that included a million and one ingredients you would have to go out and buy! Plus, a quick and easy ‘recipe’ that’s enjoyable for the whole family to get involved with seemed like a no brainer!

This is where The House of Alyssa’s hot cross bunnies were born!

All you need is as many hot cross buns you can get your sparkly paws on (although we recommend at least 2) and some mini eggs for decoration (and eating purposes of course!) And voila! The only tools we recommend having to hand for this one is a sharp knife so that you can cut out his little ears with the upmost precision!

The method –

There really is no fancy way of bringing your hot cross bunnies to life which we think is the complete beauty of our little recipe!

All you need to do is take one full hot cross bun to make up your bunnies head -Squish and shape it until it forms a nice little circle and there you have it!

Next, take another whole hot cross bun and carefully cut out a little ear shapes! We recommend starting close to the edge of your bun, using it as a guide to help form the shape of your ear. Once you have cut one ear out, turn your hot cross bun around the other way and repeat this step!

Now you have his ears all that’s left to do is construct his face!

For the eyes and nose, simply use the spare raisons from the left over ear cut outs and then place a white mini egg upside-down to form his little mouth!

You now have your very own hot cross bunnies! How easy was that?
