We all know who we’re talking about when we say ‘the lady of the house’ – our Alyssa of course! Her smiley face has been the face of our wonderful brand since it began back in 2014 and she is well known for sharing ‘real life’ experiences, her ups and downs on business and life… but do we really know her?

“When I was younger, I actually wanted to be a vet! I’m talking about 4 years old here… I always loved (and still love!) animals, but I couldn’t deal with the loss of them on a daily basis and as I grew up, I actually realised I was pretty squirmy when it comes to blood!”

2. “I won a case at High Court on Intellectual Property, protecting my name and brand in 2021. Probably one of the most stressful things I have ever done but I was so proud of the outcome. It shows we really can fight to protect what is ours. Needless to say the business we took to court no longer exists.” – Read all about this here

“True fact- when I was growing up in my teenage years, my role model and hero was actually Elle Woods! You can now probably see where my love for pink outfits, chihuahuas and my Audi TT came from! And if you don’t know who Elle Woods is… Why! (She’s from the film Legally Blonde!)”

“One Christmas I asked for a REAL fairy as a present from Father Christmas, I didn’t want ANYTHING else, and I had spent a good few weeks prior to Christmas making a fairy house for my new ‘pet’. It even consisted of TINY squares of toilet paper for her in the makeshift bathroom I made her using a play toilet which was originally for my beloved Sylvanian families! I was absolutely devastated I didn’t get my fairy and my parents had to tell me that Santa said all fairies MUST stay in the wild and not inside. I don’t think I ever got over it!”

“I have always loved fancy dress- any occasion to dress up and I’m there! Even any ‘non’ occasion I’m there! My favourite era in fashion however HAS to be the 1920’s style, hence why I just can’t help but release Gatsby inspired designs a few times a year!”

“One of my proudest moments ever in my ‘business’ life was the first time I ever saw my Company name on personalised ribbon for our packaging. I had always dreamed of getting to the stage in my work where I saw my name/logo on my packaging and it took so very many years before this actually happened for us- since I had never taken a business loan, I grew the Company organically, which obviously took me longer to reach my goals but it was SO worth it seeing it! The first ever personalised ribbon we had was black satin ribbon with hot pink ‘alyssa smith’ written on it…. How Girls Aloud!”

“I have spoken at the Houses of Parliament on more than a few occasions in the past about business/apprenticeships and women in business and I was the National Ambassador for the Federation of Small Businesses for around 2 years in my 20’s…. Such amazing memories there!”

“I hi-fived the (then) chancellor George Osborne at a networking event because I didn’t know who he was at the time!”

“I was on a TV show in 2015 on channel DAVE called ‘The Money Pit’ which was a 16 week series, where I invested in start up businesses to help get their ideas off the ground. Needless to say I did not invest in the business who made ‘bespoke’ metal moulds of the anus!”

“I met the lovely Princess Anne at an award ceremony when I had just started my business and I was nominated for a business award and we had a lovely chat. 10 years on I met her son at a networking event and when he gave me his business card, I looked at the address (Buckingham Palace Road) and said ‘Shut up, as IF you work there!’ – I did not know who he was at the time, but I definitely do now!”
…All in a day’s work! Or should we say, never a boring day! If you enjoyed this little insight into the life of Alyssa, do drop us a line on more things you’d like to see from our blogs!
