It’s no secret that the magnificent Garnet is the birthstone of choice for those born in the month of January: with its name deriving from the Latin ‘granatum’ meaning ‘pomegranate’ (as it so closely resembles the deep red seeds of the pomegranate fruit!) This gorgeous gemstone can be found in many parts of the world and has long been an important gemstone throughout history. Although it is most known for its stunning deep red colour, it is also found in shades of green, violet and orange, to name but a few, leaving those born in the first month of the year spoilt for choice!
