we’re proudly raising funds for Lister’s Early Pregnancy Unit!

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS SUMMER

It's time for phase 2 of supporting our wonderful local hospital and the key services it provides

During December 2022, we helped raise some incredibly important funds for our local Lister hospital’s Early Pregnancy Unit, a service which provides care, support and treatment (as well as emergency health services) to pregnant women and those trying to become pregnant.

Alyssa decided on the EPU as the focus of our fundraising efforts as she received support and treatment over 18 months before becoming pregnant, and thanks to the support and orders placed by our wonderful collectors throughout the month of December, phase 1 of our project saw us able to donate £541 straight to the hospital! £1 from every single sale went directly to the hospital, as through spending time there, Alyssa wished to help support the restoration and improvement of their family room and any other areas which required funding.

We’re so excited to be teaming up with the wonderful Early Pregnancy Unit at the Lister Hospital for 2023, and are determined to reach our target so even more wonderful people can benefit!

What are we raising money for?

We’re continuing Alyssa’s dreams of improving the EPU at Lister by running this wonderful fundraising event again, and this time all the way through the month of August! So, this means that £1 from each and every order placed with us will be collected up and donated directly to Lister hospital, where we hope this extra push will allow us to reach our target amount and give the unit a much-needed boost.

We are raising money to help make these rooms a nicer place for the families and individuals who find themselves there. Work will include funding the decoration, murals to make the rooms more pleasant and positive, new and comfortable furniture, lighting and refreshment stations which will enhance the experience for local families needing support at the unit. Having seen first hand how desperately in need of help this unit is, we couldn’t help but pick this cause for our project this year, since we know it will help so many people, local and further afield!

“Miscarriage affects at least 1:4 women, at some point of their fertility journey.

It is devastating and can impact on the woman, partners, other children and the wider family. Whilst many of these losses cannot be prevented, meeting with the couples and supporting them in a calm, quiet , nurturing environment, can make a huge difference to their experience and recovery.

Refurbishment of this area would ‘humanise’ pregnancy loss and take away the ‘clinical’ ambience commonly found in hospital settings, allowing the team to offer physical and emotional support to Women and their partners. By creating a relaxing space, with murals, calm colour scheme and homely furniture, it is hoped that the couple will feel able to address their loss and allow the team to support them through.”

What we got up to last Christmas

We are still so happy to have been able to support this lovely charity last Christmas and to be able to give back to our local community. We really enjoyed the entire process of helping create such positive change, which will help so many people and families who walk through those doors in the coming years, in need of support and a quiet place to think; grieve and heal.

But of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing customers who ordered from us in December and those of you who will do so again this month, so please remember that £1 from every single order placed at the House of Alyssa this month will be donated to the Lister EPU!

We can’t wait to see how much we raise and to share the final figures with you all. We will of course keep you all posted with the project as our funds are used (we love a before and after photo too!).
