Happy holidays from all of us here at Sparkle Towers HQ! Oh what a year it has been! But let’s not focus on that. Team Alyssa have been hard at work putting together our first ever Christmas catalogue for 2021, full of lots of amazing content… including two gorgeous little recipes we just couldn’t wait to share with you! Whether you have or haven’t received one of our little catalogues this year, don’t worry! As we’ve decided to bring our scrumptious festive treats here to houseofalyssasmith.com as well! Yay!
If you didn’t know already…
Sangria is an alcoholic wine drink that originates from Spain. It is traditionally made with red wine, chopped up fruits, fresh citrus and brandy or sometimes orange juice. Some versions are made with sparkling water, ginger ale and/or sweeteners. So, we’ve done our best to combine all these amazing flavours to create a very sparkly (and boozy) Christmas cocktail for everyone to enjoy during their festive celebrations!
You need to trust us on this one, this recipe has been tried and tested by everyone here at Sparkle Towers and if we do say so ourselves… it’s just perfect! This delicious beverage will be a real showstopper at any of your Christmas parties and would be ideal to have alongside your dinner on the big day! it’s also very easy to make too! yay!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons agave nectar
1/2 (big) shot of Cointreau
1/2 (big) shot of your favourite brandy
1 orange, halved and then sliced
1 lime, sliced
1 pear, sliced
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
2 sticks of cinnamon
1 bottle of dry red wine
Any ginger ale you fancy!
Rosemary to garnish and edible sparkles to make your cinnamon sticks extra magical!
Tools:
A large jug or drinks dispenser if you’re hosting this year’s Christmas party! (Make sure it’s not too big as it will need to sit in the fridge).
A long spoon or wooden spoon for mixing all those amazing flavours together!
A large shot glass or a 25 ml alcohol measurement.
Your cocktail glass of choice although we recommend a tall glass.
A sharp knife and chopping board.
Cling film for covering your jug before letting it sit in the fridge!
1. To a large pitcher (or something similar) add your agave nectar, Cointreau, Brandy, orange slices, lime slices, pear slices, pomegranate seeds and cinnamon sticks.
2. Next, pour one bottle of red wine into the pitcher. Stir to combine.
3. At this point you can either finish the jug off with your preferred choice of ginger ale (we did this) OR, you can let the sangria sit as it is and top your glasses off with a healthy slug of ginger ale when it’s ready to be served to the whole family (or yourself!)
4. Cover with clingfilm and place in fridge for 1-2 hours. (The longer it sits, the better it will taste) we recommend overnight for ultimate deliciousness!
5. Pour over ice or serve chilled. Garnish with your fruit as well as some rosemary. For that extra special touch, add a cinnamon stick dusted with edible (or nontoxic) sparkles! And voila! You have the ultimate festive, fruity cocktail!
Please note, this recipe contains alcohol.
If you would like to make this recipe alcohol free, just opt for fruit juices such as orange and cranberry… You can even get your hands on alcohol free red wine if you want a more authentic taste.
